ESSAY CONTEST
OPEN TO STUDENTS IN GRADES 6th- 12th
Essay Topic: LIFE, A PRECIOUS GIFT
Prizes:
9th – 12th Grade: One $300 cash prize
6th – 8th Grade: One $100 cash prize, plus a book donated to the library of your choice.
The winning essays will be published in our public newsletter.
Eligibility:
Student must reside in or attend a school in Fayette or Westmoreland County. Relatives of staff, board
members, and volunteers of Alternatives.Yes are not eligible.
Rules:
Essay must be typed, double-spaced, with your name, grade, phone number, address, and school name
written on the back. Essays for grades 9 – 12 are not to exceed 750 words. Essays for grades 6 - 8
are not to exceed 500 words. Essays must be mailed to Alternatives.Yes, 6 Frank Gallo Lane,
Connellsville, PA 15425. They must be postmarked by January 4, 2010. Winners will be notified by
January 22, 2010.
Essays will be judged on originality, creativity, grammar, and neatness.
